Day 8 Exploring the Trotternish Peninsula

As predicted, today was the sunniest day of our eight, and our first without rain; a great day for photos!  We started the day in Portree, Joni shopped and I camped out in a cafe enjoying another morning coffee, a muffin, and the newspaper.   Leaving Portree around 11:45 AM, we followed Rick Steeves advice and started our counter clockwise tour of the Trotternish Peninsula, which includes the small village of Kensalyre, where our B&B is located.  Apparently the better views of many of these places are seen when you travel counter clockwise.

The last vertical stone on the right is the Old Man of Storr.

No worries for these guys

TARDIS?   Back in the day, a single pay phone served an entire village, so it is not uncommon to see these relics in the middle of nowhere.

We had dinner at the Cuchullin Restaurant in the center of Portree.  Braised beef for Joni and I had battered haddock and chips.  Both  were yummy.

  1. Wow. Reminiscent of Nova Scotia (new Scotland).

  2. If this is reminiscent of Nova Scotia, I am going on a trip to Nova Scotia as soon as I can talk Paul into it! I am wondering, Rick, whether your camera filters can create colors more beautiful than the originals? Your photos take my breath away. And, oh, the sheep...
